Flexible stone on the Crema De la Crema facade
A PletaFlex flexible stone facade — 3200 m²
The contrast between the light B02 Butcher Beige field and the dark vertical R07 Chocolate Rock inserts gives the facade depth and brings out the building’s geometry. The light shade visually lightens five storeys, while the brown bands near the downpipes and along certain architectural axes break up the uniformity.
The curved wall, the external edges and the narrow mullions were the most demanding zones. Flexibility lets the radius be followed without fragmentation, and the low thickness gives clean joints with the sills and the cornices. At 4 kg/m², 3200 m² adds around 13 tonnes; in natural stone it would have been 65 to 110.
On a pale facade what matters is how it looks after two years. The surface is hydrophobic: water runs off instead of soaking in, so no dirty streaks form under the sills or beside the downpipes. Over 200 freeze-thaw cycles, no cracking, pigments that do not fade. Maintenance is a pressure wash.
